We foster a culture that values everyone's creativity, our environment and the communities in which we live.The Vice President (VP), IT Strategy and Delivery reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO).
As a member of the IT senior leadership team, this role will provide executive sponsorship and enterprise level technology vision and strategy.
The primary goal is to ensure that Smithfield is making the right investments in new technology while gaining cross-functional leverage from current products and delivering quality solutions.
The VP, Strategy and Delivery will also lead a large, diverse group charged with implementing technology strategies, continuous improvement, innovation, and automation to support Smithfield's overall strategic direction.
The VP, IT Strategy and Delivery will service 3 major stakeholders as a business partner: Smithfield's President of Hog Production, the President of Packaged Meats and the President of US Fresh Pork.
A strong partnership with the executive leadership team, involvement and integration with their strategies, visions and goals are critical to the success of this role and of the team supporting the ITSD function for each of these areas.Core ResponsibilitiesIT Strategic PlanningLead the Technology Strategic planning activities with the office of CIO and IT Leadership team.Lead a team of IT Strategy & Delivery subject matter experts that have a deep understanding of the technology available in the areas of the business they support.Assist business partners in identifying and documenting business requirements, business cases, user cases and expected productivity outcomes, financial outcomes, and other return on investment opportunities.Educate the organization on the relevant, available technologies appropriate to evaluate for business needs.Encourage the organization to select products that are suitable for business needs, and to leverage Technology products that exist within the Smithfield organization.
Work with a goal to leverage what we own to the maximum possible extent.Work with business partners and IT Leadership team design, develop and assist in implementation strategies.Partner with business stakeholders and internal IT resources to build and maintain a technology roadmap focusing on new technology, continuous improvement, innovation and automation ensuring alignment with corporate goals.Working with IT Service & Delivery (ITSD) team and business partners establish and manage project Capital and Operating Expenses including monthly update and review meetings.Coordinate with the Finance team on Capex Activities and processes for eCAR that require IT to conform to corporate planning and execution, including monthly capital spend forecasting.Work with IT Finance in the preparation, review and adherence to annual business plans and budgets for the IT organization.Form and maintain strong internal partnerships across all Business and IT functions, ensuring solid alignment to our IT model.Work with IT and business teams to identify opportunities and important issues and define ways to maximize business value.IT DeliveryAccountable for managing the ITSD project planning and execution activities required to deliver the programs scope in accordance with the agreed time, cost and quality criteria.Responsible for managing the delivery of quality technology solutions ensuring business value and adherence to Smithfield strategies.Ensure that the business is equally accountable to manage scope, prioritize work, and authorize spend.Work with Smithfield business partnerships in finding operational efficiencies by leveraging existing technology platforms.Support and guide the teams involved in continually improving their standards while they deliver new technologies.Provide guidance and maintain alignment with IT policies and standards.Work with Application Services to maintain an IT Applications inventory to understand the current landscape and determine the appropriate roadmaps. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field and 15+ years of experience in IT; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.5+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development is required.Advanced experience in an IT project leadership role with specific emphasis and deep working knowledge and experience in effective project management, IT Service Management Practices (ITIL) or similar mythology, required.Broad knowledge of business processes as well as process controls and risks and an understanding of how this relates to the IT environment and audit procedures.Experience with IT Planning, Strategy, Financial Management, Infrastructure and Application processes.Broad knowledge of IT infrastructure and architecture of computer systems as well as exposure to a variety of platforms such as operating systems, networks, databases, and ERP systems.Familiarity with JD Edwards and SAP ERP systems.Solid analytical skills, experience solving practical issues and engaging cross functional teams of multiple process partners to gain consensus.Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with peers and executive leadership.Strong leadership and management skills that align with the Smithfield culture.
