As the Respiratory Therapist - Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in leading and supporting the respiratory therapy team. Under the direction of the RT Department Manager or Director, you will be responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, and managing the respiratory therapy staff. You will ensure that all team members are well-trained, motivated, and equipped to deliver top-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the hiring, training, evaluation, and termination process of respiratory therapy staff.
  • Communicate clearly with team members, ensuring that all messages from management are conveyed effectively.
  • Conduct annual competency check-offs and provide training on new techniques and equipment.
  • Manage equipment stocking and organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Assign work fairly and evenly, assisting staff with unexpected emergencies or situations.
  • Complete daily assignment sheets, documenting all pertinent information and events.
  • Meet regularly with the RT Department Manager to discuss departmental needs and issues.
  • Perform all respiratory care practices of a staff therapist in both critical and non-critical areas, including ventilator management, bronchoscopies, BIPAP, high flow O2 therapies, and ABG analysis.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapist Program with an Associate's Degree.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Current Florida RT license.
  • American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
  • Prior acute care hospital experience required.
