About the role

The Lab Technician at Reworld Waste will analyze samples and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards to support waste management operations. This position is integral to the proper evaluation and compliance of the facility's waste analysis plan. This person will be responsible for performing onsite laboratory and testing procedures. They will determine acceptable waste-streams and work closely with operations to ensure proper processing.

Position Responsibilities
  • Review verification sheets to determine testing strategy, including but not limited to: mercury, flash, physical (finger print), bomb for btu and % Cl, and % water if needed
  • Verify that results fit the proper disposal site
  • Follow discrepancy procedures and communicate with appropriate team members
  • Maintain inventory and tell appropriate people for reordering supplies
  • Perform weekly scale calibrations using company provided weights
  • Weekly audits of safety shower and eye wash station to maintain compliance
  • Be willing to comply with the plant to help with projects that they are working on
  • Communicate with Supervisor and Lab Manager
  • Open and close the lab including securing materials and turning off equipment
  • Always maintain good housekeeping of the lab.
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Work as a team to dispose of samples before hold date expiration
  • Ability to use software like Enviroware to track sample results and enter data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite or similar software.
  • Communicate in a professional manner and explain things to others to help them understand.
  • Knowledge of preparing and labeling required reagents according to protocols.
  • Differentiate between hazardous and non-hazardous materials


Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the waste industry and prior experience working in a laboratory setting is preferred.


Physical Demands of the Role
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
  • Qualify to wear a full-face respirator
  • Consistently work in various weather conditions
