Department/Unit Summary

5A is an acute care medical surgical unit. On a typical day, 6A has 24 patients with a 1:6 nurse/patient ratio and 1:10 CA/patient ratio.We serve the general population of hospitalized patients with a variety of conditions. The conditions include illnesses, surgery, testing, and observation patients. We take care of patients with comorbidities like diabetes, hypertension, stroke, renal and psychiatric issues.Whilecaring for our patients is the focus, 5A boasts a strong team environment, improved nurse communication and a commitment to SOVAH Healths core values.

Qualifications and requirements

Applicants should have a current VA (or Multi-state) RN license and possess a nursing degree from an accredited nursing school (Bachelors degree preferred). Additional requirements include:

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support

  • Experience in clinical area preferred

  • Telemetry: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Associationrequired,orobtainedwithin six (6)months of hire
