Learning & Development Specialist - Destination Kohler

Work Mode: Onsite

Location:  Kohler, WI 

Opportunity

The Learning & Development Specialist partners with Hospitality business units to deliver engaging L&D solutions that address business needs. This position needs to effectively participate within various project teams, coordinate and facilitate learning programs, and create learning materials. This position will also be responsible for integrating learning content with Kohler’s Learning Management System, tracking participation and reporting.

Specific Responsibilities

1) Program Design:

  • Design comprehensive training programs aligned with luxury brand service standards. Customize learning solutions to address identified needs and enhance service excellence. Provide guidance to business leaders on planning and delivering on-the-job training. Collaborate with the Group Learning and Development Manager to develop programs that enhance the experience of new associates and leaders.

2) Program Facilitation:

  • Utilize instructional facilitation techniques to create engaging learning experiences. Own the New Associate Onboarding program. Partner with the recruiting team to ensure a smooth transition from pre-boarding to onboarding. Facilitate Service Training and property tour. Develop and maintain resources for leaders to ensure a consistent, positive onboarding experience. Train additional trainers as needed.

3) Program Evaluation:

  • Collect and analyze feedback and metrics to evaluate program effectiveness. Modify programs as needed based on the evaluation results.

4) Operations learning:

  • Guide operations leaders in developing departmental onboarding programs, standard training manuals, and other on-the-job training initiatives. Facilitate Trainer the Trainer workshops to develop departmental trainers. Meet with them regularly to review on-the-job learning progress. Participate in operations training, such as Forbes and F&B Services, to understand service standards and assist in evaluating training results.

5) Communication:

  • Prepare and distribute weekly learning tips and a monthly learning calendar.

6) Administration:

  • Coordinate appropriate learning programs, including producing and ordering support and classroom materials, reserving and preparing classroom spaces, managing communications and registrations, tracking attendance, and collecting/analyzing feedback. Utilize Kohler’s Learning Management System to identify and track program penetration. Prepare and analyze reports on program adoption and impact. Provide ongoing support to businesses in their efforts to develop associates. Collaborate with non-learning Subject Matter Experts to assist in creating documentation and other materials, such as job aids and user guides. Work effectively with associates throughout the organization to support the Kohler Talent Academy and connect global talent initiatives to Hospitality.

*Please note that occasional nights and weekends will be required for our new hire orientation groups.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Instructional Design, Education, Business Administration or related field required
  • 3+ years' experience in a Learning, HR or Hospitality Operations position required.
  • Must have strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of adult learning theory and facilitation techniques preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and drive projects to completion.
  • Must have strong problem solving and execution skills, as well as experience implementing learning initiatives.  
  • Strong attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and the ability to quickly establish strong working relationships are also needed.  

The salary range for this position is $65,600 - $82,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.  Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
