About the jobThe Packaging Engineer is responsible to support innovation, renovation, sustainability, productivity, and business continuity projects on cross functional teams. In this role you will be accountable for:Develop primary, secondary, and tertiary packagingDeliver food packaging projects under mentorship of senior members of packaging teamDemonstrate creativity/innovation in the development of packaging systemsResearch and develop new packaging materials, shapes, and assemblies in support of the Danone portfolio of brands and productsAid in the delivery of Food Packaging reform productivity goalsProtect security of supply by ensuring dual supply in critical pack formatsAbility to challenge the status quo to achieve Danone Impact Journey (DIJ) sustainability goalsDevelop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, plants, co-manufacturers, and other sources of applicable technologies.Accountable for the creation and maintenance of the packaging specifications.Organize and conducts trials in an industrial environment.Ensure development of new technical & material concepts for packaging solutions via collaboration with internal and external experts The base compensation range for this position is $62,000-92,000commensurate with experience. About youBachelor's degree minimum (Packaging, Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering science)0-2+ years' experience in a packaging engineering field (preferably in the food or beverage industry)Experience in at least (2) of the following packaging categories gained through Co-ops and internship opportunities is required. Knowledge in other pack areas gained through course work desired.CorrugatePaperboardFilms: Pouches, shrink sleeve, lidding materialsRigid Plastics: preformed cups, bottles, and capsRoll-formed plasticsAbility to look at the entire packaging life cycle from vendor through consumerUnderstanding of cold chain distribution systemsPrioritization and organizational skills Lateral thinking and problem solving Detail oriented and ability to learn in a fast pace environmentExperience in the use of statistical tools for problem solving a plusAbility to travel approximately 25%.
