OVERVIEW: The machine mechanic position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site s business goals and objectives.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility s equipment.Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.Follows and ensures good manufacturing practices at all timesFollows and adheres to the company s safety programOther duties as assigned.COMPETENCIES:Familiar with hydraulics, electrical and basic plumbing systemsAnalytical thinkerAttention to detailProcedural complianceGood communication skillsAbility to work overtimeAvailability to handle emergency calls as neededWORK ENVIRONMENT:The employee may be exposed to extreme cold environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.QUALIFICATIONS:Mechanical Ability:Hydraulic system experience with pressure up to 3000 psiVariable displacement pumps troubleshooting and rebuildDirectional valvesRelief valves and proper settingProper care of hydraulic oil systems (prevent contamination)Pneumatic system experience with pressures up to 100psiSolenoid valve operationAir over water intensifiersProper care of incoming airWater system experienceCooling water controlCentrifugal pump troubleshooting and rebuildUnderstanding cavitation and removing entrapped airFiltration systemsValve rebuild experienceUse of torque wrenchesUsed of precision measurement instruments (calipers, micrometersAbility to read mechanical drawings and Bill of MaterialsElectrical Abilities:Ability to read electrical schematics and sequence diagramsAbility to use electrical test equipmentAbility to troubleshoot electrical ciricuits using drawing and physically tracing circuitsExperience with 480VAC, 240VAC, 110VAC, 24 VDC and analog instrumentation/sensors signalsAdditional experienceFamiliarly with Allen Bradley PLC input/output circuitsProgram experience with Rockwell RS Logics and RS LinksKeeping technical records and maintenance logsExperience with HMI s and SCADA computersDiscipline to follow the maintenance and operations manuals
