Job Description Merchandiser III - Des Moines, IAThis is a full time, Salary exempt position.
MAIN FUNCTION:The position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with both external and internal UP rail customers throughout the U.S. and Mexico, including the handling of logistics, accounting, and other customer related issues.
The position requires a high level of strategic thinking, market knowledge, trading acumen and employee development.
The position will also take an active role in developing ADM's young talent pool as they rotate through ADM Des Moines commercial office. KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:University degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting), supplemented with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in commodity merchandising / trading / rail logistics.Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast-paced work environment.Proven ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the domestic trade.Proven ability to manage effectively within a team based work environment.Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers. Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software. Applications within a windows based operating environment.
