Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO+I, the Global Project Controls (GPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for passionate, high-energy individuals to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services. The Regional Estimator is responsible for the development and maintenance of estimates for new Technology & Innovative Datacenter builds in their assigned region. They will manage cost data, communications, schedule meetings, and be a point of contact between internal and external parties for specific projects being supported. The Regional Estimator will work closely with engineering, construction, security, networking, and operations teams throughout each project and ensure cost information is developed and managed to meet the requirements of those specific project needs. They will report directly to the AMERs Principal Lead Estimator and will have dotted-line interactions with Regional Project Estimators & Cost Managers to continue implementing lessons learned. This role is located either in one or all hub locations: Atlanta, GA, Phoenix, AZ, Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX, or Washington, DC. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years experience in construction estimating on major construction portfoliosOR equivalent experience.Experience in the full Construction Life CycleExperience performing all forms and types of estimates, including parametric, bottoms up, and high level what-if scenarios.Experience developing, maintaining, and reporting out on project scope, schedule, and budget with cost as the main driver in those conversations.Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:12+ years experience in construction estimatingAbility to present data from detailed to high-level, depending on audience. High personal standard to deliver a thoughtful, polished, and quality work estimate or any other report-out deliverable.Cross-group collaborator and influencer to deliver on key projects and the ability to build the trust of our construction partners.Analytical, problem-solving skills beyond estimating practice.Construction Project Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.Construction Project Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $115,000 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $146,200 - $219,200 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation. Perform different types of estimates from conceptual to detailed, while keeping delivery dates as a top priority.Partner collaboratively with cross-functional teams (design engineering, construction, cost controls, scheduling, finance, etc.) to understand requirements and ensure alignment to scope, schedule, and budget. Report to senior managers on estimate data, project cost progress and assumptions. Support, develop, and improve estimating processes and procedures; drive standardization and consistency throughout the group.Review quantitative or conceptual problems and situations to draw appropriate and valid conclusions from data presented. This includes analyzing data to determine the most significant elements, identifying common elements and themes in situations and actions, and recognizing cause and effect relationships.Review engineering documentation/designs, site, and building plans by examining and analyzing technical information. Identify potential risks/gaps and provide recommendations to project teams that mitigate risk and improve overall constructability.
