Job Description See what you’re missing. Our employees work on the world’s most advanced electronics – from detecting threats for F-35 pilots to illuminating the night for soldiers. Spanning air, land, sea, and space, we are developing the technology of tomorrow, delivered today. Drawing strength from our differences, we’re innovating for the future. And you can, too.

Our flexible work environment provides you a chance to change the world without giving up your personal life. We put our customers first – exemplified by our mission: “We Protect Those Who Protect Us®.” Sound like a team you want to be a part of? Come build your career with BAE Systems.

In Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and
Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems, you’ll help develop systems that sense, control, exploit and disseminate actionable information to warfighters supporting a variety of missions.

Embark on a journey of innovation with BAE Systems' Platform Engineering (PE) group that manages an on-premises Virtual Cloud Computing Center (VC3). PE seeks a motivated Platform DevOps engineer to tackle the task of automating reliable, sustainable, and optimized services for the VC3 and disconnected environment. Your efforts on our cloud-based systems ensures their security, scalability, and reliability for hundreds of tenants and thousands of users. Your experience and passion for DevOps practices and tools will be essential in automating processes, streamlining deployments, providing disaster recovery, and improving the overall efficiency of our services.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain the on-premises cloud infrastructure in accordance with best practices for scalability, security, and performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define infrastructure requirements, understand application needs.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless application deployment and continuous integration using industry-standard tools and frameworks.
Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar technologies.
Monitor system performance, conduct root cause analysis, and implement optimizations to enhance system availability, reliability, and efficiency.
Implement security measures and best practices to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and applications.
Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents related to infrastructure, networking, and application deployment in a timely manner.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in DevOps to continuously improve the infrastructure and development processes.

The DevOps Engineer will be expected to demonstrate a high level of technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, a passion to learn, and a customer-focused attitude. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality services in a cloud ecosystem and will be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. They will have an understanding of cloud infrastructure and the ability to bridge between development and operations. Platform engineering believes in investing in our professionals. Training time and opportunities are available to increase skills and keep knowledge cutting edge.

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
