behavior-based safety leadership and direction to the company across our 2 facilities through the development and implementation of appropriate safety policies, procedures, and programs.As a key change agent, increases safety awareness and continuously improves individual site safety performance while also optimizing productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. Leads regular safety audits, ensures accident investigation & reporting procedures are in place and followed, and maintains robust record keeping and KPI reporting processes to effectively reduce risks.Develops and delivers detailed and specialized safety training programs for new and existing employees to embed a behavior-based safety culture including but not limited to lock out / tag out, hazard communication, emergency response programs, confined space entry, contractor control, powered industrial truck operation, fall protection, and evacuation procedures, Safe Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and Job Safety Analysis.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities1. Lead the development of safety policies, practices, and procedures throughout Pennant Ingredients in compliance with governmental regulations including Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations, including, but not limited to OSHA.2. Lead the development of and provide guidance regarding facility specific issues relative to safety programs and practices.3. Monitor new legislation as it relates to safety standards and practices and facilitate changes, as necessary.4. Works collaboratively with Group Risk and Safety (Puratos) to implement group programs locally as required and supports the Group in creation of standards, best practices, and activities to continuously improve the safety culture company wide.5. Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary group and be a team leader.6. Identify, investigate, report, and provide guidance relative to root causes, corrective actions (RCCA) for incidents, employee safety programs and regulatory compliance relative to safety.7. Develop materials necessary for a comprehensive employee and supervisor safety training program, including training modules designed to meet or exceed the safety goals of the organization.8. Develop and implement solutions for emergency preparedness plans for company sites.9. Monitor and analyze safety trends and implement programs designed to continuously improve company results.10. Implement standards of performance, benchmarks and key performance indicators that allow accurate measurement of performance and improvement.11. Assist in the development of consistent pre-employment training and practices.12. Provide leadership, guidance and technical support to operations management and safety committees to embed a behavior-based safety culture.13. Act as the primary contact for various state and local regulatory agencies regarding matters involving safety and environmental regulations.14. Assist in the development and administration of company safety incentive programs, including the evaluation of the effectiveness of such programs in positively changing employee safety behavior.15. Assist in ensuring consistency in the policies and practices being employed at each company facility, where practical.16. Other projects and responsibilities as may be assigned.Education and Experience Requirements1. Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience in EHS required.2. Minimum 5 years EHS Manager experience preferably in a food manufacturing environment.3. Experience driving safety culture and leadership.4. Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations as well as local regulatory standards including, but not limited to NFPA, EPA, and HAZMAT.5. Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.6. Excellent leadership, change management and time management skills.7. Excellent working knowledge of Federal regulations and various State laws regarding safety & environmental compliance.8. Multiple locations experience a plus.9. Proficient in personal computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.10. Knowledge and experience in training in a group environment.11. Possess strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills12. Attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, with excellent organization skills establishing priorities across multiple projects / sites and meeting deadlines.13. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.14. Works independently and has a strong ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.CompensationAnnual salary compensation for this position is based on skills and experience, ranging from $110,000.00 - $130,000.00
