We want your knowledge and expertiseJob Summary and QualificationsThe Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.We are currently looking for an ambitious Registered Respiratory Therapist to help us reach our goals. As our Respiratory Therapist, you will evaluate the respiratory needs of your patients. You will also develop and implement the Respiratory Care Plan for your patients. Take the next step in your career.Your duties and responsibilities may include:You will be responsible for the application and operation of acute care ventilators used for continuous short and long-term mechanical ventilation.You must be self-directed in the absence of the full-time Team Leader.You will maintain all department and hospital records and enter accurate information into the hospital computer for the therapy as given.You will perform your procedures with care and empathy for our patients. Requirements: Current Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist licensureAmerican Heart Association BLS health care provider required. ACLS, PALS and NRP within 6 months of hire.Graduate of Respiratory Care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).Frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling and moving equipment.Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions in volatile situations.Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.What you will do in this role:You will perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.You will administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You will notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.What qualifications you will need:Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start dateBasic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start datePALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start dateRRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP)Associate DegreeFor over 40 years, HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital has been providing comprehensive healthcare services.
