About the role
Job Description
We seek a candidate, with a proven track record, who will lead, direct, and motivate the Operations team at our HPOWER Thermomechanical Treatment Facility, located in Kapolei, Hawaii. This role has 5 direct reports consisting of Superintendents, a Supervisor and Analyst. The Operations Manager reports directly to the Facility Manager. The Operations Manager will interact directly with business and supply chain teams for coordination of schedules and understanding of customer needs.
The Operations Manager will oversee the Plant's operational responsibilities and requirements, which utilizes both refuse-derived fuel (RDF) and mass burn technology, that include but are not limited to the following activities:
- Set expectations, hold people accountable for, and role model Reworld Values and Behaviors to ensure a safe and inclusive workplace, deliver results with trust, and build breakthrough capabilities.
- Deliver superior environmental, health, and safety leadership to ensure no accidents, no harm to people, and no damage to the environment. Ensures compliance with all permit requirements.
- Provide leadership and oversight to keep boiler and turbine performance at optimal levels.
- Accountable for executing the business strategy into actionable operations and improvement plans, including establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Provide input to the 3-5-year long-term planning process which supports the business and corporate strategy.
- Communicate and implement Operations Department objectives, priorities, and progress.
- Develop and implement resource plans for effective performance and manage employee relations/engagement.
- Champion continuous improvement and productivity using methodologies such as Six Sigma® and Lean.
- Lead continuous learning, development, and performance efforts to improve operations capabilities and effectiveness.
- Provide leadership and coaching to effectively grow and develop personnel.
- Drive cultural change, operational discipline, accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset throughout the operations department.
- Provide assurance of compliance to procedures through auditing.
- Responsible for the housekeeping and appearance of the operations areas to maintain a safe working environment.
This position requires onsite availability and relocation is offered to qualified candidates.
Position Requirements:
- To be considered for this position, you must have a broad background in plant operations, including about 10 years' or supervisory/managerial experience
- Power plant experience is a plus.
- An engineering degree is desirable; however, a general supervisory background in an electrical or mechanical generating facility may be substituted for power plant experience.
- General knowledge, and/or experience in industrial safety is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required
- Understanding of municipal solid waste (MSW) combustion practices and materials handling processes.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications, and organizational skills.
- The ASME, QRO/CFO Certification is desirable, or must be able to qualify for this certification within six months of employment.
Physical Demands of the Role:
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, on a routine basis
- Ability to regularly climb ladders, stand/walk/sit/kneel/bend/reach/crouch, and balance
- Ability to enter confined spaces and work at heights while wearing harness and other applicable safety equipment
- Ability to wear a full-face respirator
- Ability to use and move handheld equipment (ladders, pressure washers, generators, hoses, etc.)
- Work environment - outside weather conditions, exposure to the noise level Working conditions are generally in an outside setting, requiring exertion of moderate to heavy physical effort, and may be exposed to dirt, fumes and hazardous waste
Shift:
- Monday through Friday days, some evenings, and weekends. Off-hours and on-call work may be required.
What Reworld Offers You:
The expected base salary for this position is $128,133- $169,843. The final base figure will take into account a variety of factors including experience, ability, and location. Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and these ranges should not be considered career salary limits or caps.
