Job Description Department Superintendent - Decatur, ILGlycols PlantThis is a Salaried Exempt position reporting to the Glycols Production Manager.Job Description:This position is responsible for leading the day-to-day activities and short/long-term planning for the Glycols Department. The superintendent will champion performance excellence throughout the department to develop personnel, manage the chemical/mechanical processes, and oversee the successful implementation of improvement projects. They will establish and own the key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department. The superintendent is also responsible for tracking and understanding department costs, yields, quality, process performance, and mentoring process engineers. Essential Job Functions:Ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, customers, and visitors is the top priority. This includes enforcing all company and location requirements for personal and process safety, environmental compliance, and quality assurance.Identify improvement opportunities and take ownership of the Focused Improvement efforts in their area.Issue guidance and establish a proper review and response process to allow reports to successfully operate the plant to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.Analyze existing processes for cost savings, reliability, and performance improvement opportunities.Interact with research, maintenance, controls, process, and quality personnel in planning and development of process improvements.Advocate for resources to make the department a success.Ensure effective training and mentoring of department operations staff.Availability to support 24/7 plant operations.Provide directions and priorities to all direct reports. Minimum Job Requirements:B.S. in Engineering or equivalent experience.Experience leading colleagues in PSM-covered processes/areas, TPS investigations, and PHA reviews.5+ years of plant operations experience, managerial experience preferred.Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to communicate results and performance to key stakeholders and ensure successful achievement of goals with operations staff. Manage intradepartmental relationships across company job functions. This position interacts with various engineers, plant personnel, commercial stakeholders, and research personnel.Ability to prioritize tasks is critical to effectively managing the improvement of the department.A general knowledge of the operation of process, regulatory requirements, and financial understanding of the manufacturing costs related to equipment and processes. Effective interaction with multiple employees and managers to prioritize demands.Continuous improvement mindset utilizing independent judgment to solve problems.Proactive participation in safety, environmental, and quality activities is expected to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.Employee is expected to ensure the development of colleagues through training and mentoring activities.Excited about this role but don't think you meet every requirement listed?
