The Role
The Merchandise Assistant is an entry level position that supports the Merchandising and Design team and plays a critical role in organizing and managing products for the merchandising department. The Merchandising Assistant will be accountable for sample coordinating, communicating new arrivals to cross functional partners, product documenting and uploading, and marketing, catalog, and photoshoot prep work. Ideal employees will be highly motivated and detail-oriented individual who has the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with sample process, including accurately sorting newly adopted styles by trend and category and disregarding and or archiving samples on a seasonal basis.
- Fills requests for photographs of samples as needed.
- Creates style boards detailing styles, season, delivery dates, and other product details to effectively communicate necessary information to cross functional teams.
- Maintains accurate assortment sheets. Communicates changes to appropriate business leads on an on-going and timely basis.
- Monitors website to ensure that product is active online and appropriately displayed (image, copy, title, price, color, etc.) on a weekly basis.
- Works with the catalog and e-commerce teams to resolve any photography/copy issues in a timely manner.
- Documents detailed notes and photos for photo shoots and catalog preparation and assists in set up and tear down of display planograms.
- Assists in preparing and packing product lines for meetings and tradeshows.
- Creates picture proposals and pick-tickets to request product as necessary, and is responsible for this merchandise until returned.
- Participates in weekly cross-functional and open issues meetings with purchasing, marketing, and sales.
- Conducts trend and competitive research.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in fashion merchandising, business, or related field.
- Experience in a retail environment and/or experience in merchandise buying preferred. Can be full-time or internship experience.
- Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities at once, strong time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
