This position is responsible for the leadership and guidance of all activities of the FSQA department to include food safety programs, specification adherence, and product quality for products for the shift they are assigned to. In addition, the FSQA Superintendent will oversee all special projects as assigned. Role and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but not limited to:
Train and develop the FSQA Supervisors and technicians on assigned shift. Validation of production practices including raw material receiving requirements; pre-operational and operational sanitation; finished product quality and Food Safety Systems. Validation of monitoring, verification and the associated documentation with adherence to government regulations; developing, implementing and maintaining the HACCP, PCQI, SOP, GMP and SSOP based programs; Maintain communication with in-plant FSIS personnel with regard to plant regulatory compliance. Validation that all Customer and Peco FSQA policies and procedures are followed. Assure that FSQA sampling programs conform with customer specifications. Validation that finished product conforms to customer product and label specifications; Update customer data reports as needed. Monitor shift specification compliance through Infinity or Safety Chain systems, Assure that micro intervention programs are implemented in accordance with corporate program. Supporting and participating on both the Food Safety and Foreign Material teams for assigned shift. Provide leadership for auditing compliance to Foreign Material prevention and GMP compliance audits. Assure that the management of Hold and release products and program are in compliance. Serve as back up for submitting customer required data and information in the absence of the FSQA Manager. Assure that test kitchen is compliant with customer sensory and cook process verification. Collect and send product samples to customers when requested. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Education: Knowledge associated with food safety, animal science, natural science or technical field normally acquired through a bachelor’s degree or higher in academic study, or related job experience essential to the job. Computer Skills: Standard computer skills required; generating spreadsheets and developing templates for use by plant management and corporate FSQA, sales and operations. Able to utilize paperless Quality Systems and auditing tools. Basic knowledge of SPC concepts. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal, demonstrating the proven ability to correspond with all levels - line team members to corporate management and in plant USDA.
Preferred Skills
Experience: Minimum 5 years of prior industry experience to fully grasp regulatory, production and manufacturing concepts preferred. Experience with FDA and USDA regulated products. SAP, Infinity, or Safety Chain systems Experience a plus. Par fry or fully cooked experience a plus.
