Summary

This position is intended for all new hire drivers and/or entry level driver trainees. Responsible for safely transporting and delivering products or materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form, while abiding by all state and local traffic laws.

Typical Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education (GED)
  • CDL Truck Driver school
Relevant Experience

   

  • Always maintain conscientiousness for safety, while driving as well as performing all other duties
  • Full compliance with all FMCSA/DOT regulations and other Company policies and procedures as applicable
  • Haul, load, and handle products as assigned while maintaining efficiencies, such as fuel and best hauling and loading practices
  • Inspects truck for defects before, during, and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition
  • Obtains schedule of load times and locations for the day and drives truck to destination applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skills
  • Must be able to back up and maneuver in and around tight areas
  • Maintains electronic driver log according to DOT regulations
  • Regularly inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water
  • Makes truck and/or trailer available for scheduled maintenance
Required Certifications
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL with proper endorsements and a valid DOT Medical Certification

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, bend over or stoop. Must be able to hook up and unhook tractor and related lines to and from trailer.    The employee is required to climb and balance while getting in and out of the truck and while hooking and unhooking lines to and from the trailer.   The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
