Paint Hangar Operations Manager

Sierra Nevada Corporation is in the development process of a large-scale corrosion control and paint facility for military and civilian aircraft. Built to be the most advanced, and sustainable facility of its type in the world. This new world class facility will provide the capability of processing any aircraft ranging in size from VIP transport to advanced combat aircraft to the largest of military cargo air frames. The advanced environmental, security and quality control systems, are designed to accommodate virtually any coating process at the highest level of quality and consistency for both military and civilian markets.We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Paint Hangar Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of our aircraft paint hangar operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of aircraft paint processes, materials, and equipment, as well as the ability to manage a skilled workforce and coordinate with various departments to ensure timely and high-quality paint services. This role requires exceptional communication skills, a strong understanding of safety and quality standards, and the ability to meet and exceed customer expectations.The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations – with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.Specific Knowledge Requirements: Knowledge of all aspects of the paint hangar facility, ensuring efficient and effective operationsInformation on materials such as:Paint Removal ProductsPrimer & Paint productsThinner & Solvent productsAnticipated volume required on each per aircraftOn-site storage of corrosive and flammable paint materialsDesign and operation of a Paint Mixing roomVentilation airflow requirementsDirection of airflow, i.e. cross-flow or down-draftVelocity of air within the paint bayNumber of painters required for large, medium, and small aircraftEquipment and tooling requirementsInitial layout requirements of spaces outside the spray boothDetermining if the workflow is appropriate for the intended operationReview of materials and equipment such as storage tanks, mixing equipment, etc.Provide guidance / assistance with required EPA permitsKey Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of the paint hangar facility, ensuring efficient and effective operationsDevelop and coordinate employees and resources to meet schedule demands, optimizing workforce capabilitiesManage the paint hangar schedule, identifying potential conflicts between multiple programs, and deconflicting paint events through clear and concise communication with Program and Operations leadershipCollaborate with the Business Development team on all paint requirements to support new and ongoing projectsAssess customers' needs and deliver quality services to consistently meet and exceed customer expectationsQualifications You Must Have:Bachelor's degree and typically 10+ years of relevant experience that includes the knowledge requirements listedRelated experience may be considered in lieu of required educationProven experience in managing an aircraft paint hangar facility or similar environmentExtensive knowledge of aircraft paint materials, processes, quality controls, and equipmentStrong understanding of Government and Commercial publications and documents related to aircraft paintAbility to interpret complex paint requirements and schemes from various customer drawingsExcellent communication and coordination skills to manage schedules and customer expectations effectivelyStrong commitment to safety and quality standards, including reducing hazardous exposuresAbility to work collaboratively with diverse teams and departments to achieve common goalsThe ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET U.S. security clearance is requiredInterested candidates are invited to apply with the understanding that travel may be required as part of the interview process.
