We are expanding the Retirement Technologies (RT) Site Reliability Engineering team.  We’re looking for a Sr. Manager caliber team member to lead our 24 x 5 Production Operations team.  Additionally, this individual will be on point for production deployments during the evenings, weekends and holidays.  On call rotations will also be required.  This team member will need experience guiding the development, automation, tooling and implementation of SRE best practices.

 

The best candidates will have:

  • Extensive design experience with the CSTB and CBRS applications and excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in identifying strategic opportunities to improve service availability, performance tuning, and health monitoring.
  • Confidence leading the team with a results-oriented focus on improving key performance metrics such as MTTD and MTTR in close partnership with RT development managers.
  • Experience leading the design, architecture and implementation of an availability and resiliency strategy focused on delivering a modernized tooling and reporting solution.
  • Experience working with development team to define a sustainable continuity model for Retirement Technology that focuses on platform scale, availability, fault tolerance and performance.  This includes driving the Disaster Recovery/STREAM/Runbook compliance.
  • Identifying toil and technical debt, develop a comprehensive plan and lead the team through the house keeping process.
  • A shift-left mindset and influence architectural decisions to ensure resiliency, Definition of Done availability/SLA artifacts and scale at the beginning of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience being a hands-on technical leader who will lead the team from the front and be able to inspire the Schwab Challenger spirit in the team.  On Belay

  • 9+ years of experience with Defined Benefit/Defined Contribution operations and management.
  • 9+ years of software development and site reliability engineering experience supporting mission critical client facing applications.
  • 9+ years experience with Windows and Linux systems and administrative expertise.
  • 9+ years experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL database platforms and administrative expertise.
  • Strong multi-cultural communication and team leadership skills.
  • 9+ years experience leading a blended onshore/offshore team.
  • 9+ years of experience, supporting highly technical individuals including skill development, coaching for efficiencies and talent growth.
  • 5+ years of experience with CI/CD tools, logging, observability and deployment solutions (Bitbucket, Bamboo, Github, Salt, AppDynamics, Splunk, Grafana, Kafka, Python, PowerAutomate etc.)
