Senior Platform Engineer

We are seeking Platform Engineers who are passionate about creating and supporting DevOps tools with emerging technologies to join our team. As a Platform Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.

In this role you will work on innovating around databases like Oracle, Aurora, PostgreSQL and build automation with DevOps principles for AWS services like RDS, S3, IAM, Cloudwatch with CI/CD tools like Jenkins. This candidate would be working on a highly impactful work for the Capital One Auto Finance line of business.

General Responsibilities:

  • Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios

  • Continuously improve software engineering practices

  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies

  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience and scalability of your solutions

  • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community

  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization and diversity

  • Utilize scripting languages like Python, SQL, Container Orchestration services including Docker and ECS, Terraform, and a variety of AWS tools and services 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

  • At least 4 years of experience using build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory)

  • At least 3 years of experience with RDBMS Databases (Oracle)

  • At least 3 years of experience using Python to automate AWS services

  • At least 3 years of experience with AWS (RDS, EC2, S3, IAM, or Cloudwatch)  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience with AWS

  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or AWS Certified Developer Certification - Associate
