Do you want to work in a flexible environment with really bright folks who will challenge and teach you on a daily basis?  We are routinely working with leading world-wide food and beverage manufacturers to develop and implement exciting new packaging innovations on fast-paced schedules.   We now have an opportunity for a talented senior packaging/project engineer to join our small, dynamic, well-respected engineering firm. Senior Packaging/Project Engineer EducationYou should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering. ExperienceSolid technical understanding of both packaging equipment systems and packaging materials is essential.  Significant experience with high-speed food & beverage packaging operations is highly preferred to include all aspects of high-speed beverage packaging such as filling, capping, labeling, multi-packing, case packing, conveying, coding & palletizing. Exposure to development and commercialization of different package materials is desired including PET bottles, cans, glass, caps, cartons, corrugate cases & trays, shrink film, stretch film, vacuum packs, pouches, bags, & totes. Experience with aseptic filling is a big plus.You should possess at least 5 years relevant packaging industry experience and have a proven track record of independently managing complex packaging projects involving both packaging equipment systems and packaging materials. SkillsExceptional written & verbal communication skills are essential.Very strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Word (complex formatting) and MS Excel (complex multi-sheet workbooks with macros) is necessary.  Knowledge of MS Project & MS PowerPoint preferredTop-notch math skills together with concise technical writing.Team player with ability to get on well with others is absolutely key. DutiesDesign & evaluation of new packaging equipment systemsDevelopment of plant layout drawingsPerformance of plant trials on new packaging materials and packaging machineryDevelopment of technical documentation to support commercialization of new packaging equipment systems and packaging materialsAnalysis of performance of packaging equipment systemsPackage quality testing with associated statistical analysisWriting of technical manualsPreparation of installation bid specificationsOverseeing of contractors performing site installationDevelopment & management of schedules and budgets for commercialization of new packaging equipment systems and packaging materialsManagement of client relationshipsSupervision of junior packaging engineers Location & Travel This position will be based at our office in Penfield (Rochester), New York.
