Our client is currently seeking a QUALITY ENGINEERHiring Focus: Education/Experience: Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance. Typical qualifications are professional degree or training in Quality requirements and SPC, or 2 to 5 years' experience in Quality Management. Knowledge: Principles and practices of Quality Management and SPC. Use of all tools and equipment used in quality control. Skills:
Developing and maintaining accurate records and reports; effective use of time and materials to ensure quality parts to the customer on time; analyzing and independently solving process problems; interpersonal communications verbally and in writing, with a diverse range of people; maintaining effective business relations with other departments and customers.
Position Duties/Responsibilities:Floor NeedsAssist in start-up at the beginning of shiftsAssist in new part start-up and check outManage weld verification (cut/etch)Be available as neededCustomer NeedsAddress new product needs and requirementsHandle first part approvals and ISIRsAssist in solving customer quality issuesPerform statistical analysis as required (process capability, R&R)Quality ToolsDetermine suitability of quality tools for inspection of part features:Bend boards (typically wooden or metal, for checking formed bends and lengths)Fixtures (typically metal, for checking complex parts and features)Gauges (pins, threads, feeler, etc.)Measuring Equipment (commercially available items such as calipers, mics, tapes, height gauges, etc.)CMM programming and trainingPurchase Quality Tooling:Work with vendors in design and build of fixturesOrder from commercial suppliersDetermine proper use of Quality Tooling:Write instructions for use of toolingTrain others in use of toolingManage condition of Quality Tooling to ensure functionality:CertificationIdentificationCalibrationMaintenance and RepairStorage and controlMaintain documentation on Quality Tooling:Quality tool design and purchase recordsDatabase:Cross reference tool # and 8-digit P/NDescriptionCalibration (current and when due)Tool storage locationMeasuring instructionsUse instructions (master and on floor)Change records (history files)New ProjectsParticipate in "New Project Reviews":Determine inspection requirements for new partsUnderstand critical part featuresUnderstand end use of productOffer suggestions for revision to tolerances/material:EngineeringProduct ManagerNew project inspection tooling:Determine inspection requirements
