Job Description

At CoBank, we are on the lookout for Senior DevOps Engineers who share our zeal for crafting state-of-the-art products through advanced automation across AWS and on-premises infrastructure, while also embracing cutting-edge technologies. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you play a crucial role in bridging development and operations teams, ensuring the seamless delivery of top-notch software products within the cloud ecosystem. As a Senior DevOps Engineer at CoBank, you will be responsible for managing CoBank's AWS footprints through Infrastructure as Code and Pipeline as Code. You will play a critical role in automating and optimizing our infrastructure to ensure smooth deployment and operation of our applications. The Senior DevOps Engineer will design, implement, and manage CoBank's AWS footprints using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps. Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to infrastructure and application deployment. Collaborate with developers and other cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operation of applications. Implement best practices for security, scalability, and reliability in the infrastructure.

Essential Functions

1. Automation and Infrastructure Management:

• Leverage advanced automation tools such as Infrastructure as Code, Pipeline as Code, and Configuration as Code to streamline processes.

• Implement and manage automated solutions, including continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive automated testing practices to ensure software quality.

• Monitor and maintain robust systems through advanced observability practices.

2. Collaboration and Development:

• Lead Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in AWS/Cloud.

• Collaborate with senior engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver complex cloud-based solutions.

• Utilize advanced programming languages and tools, including Bash, Powershell, and Python for development.

• Manage container orchestration services such as ECS, Docker, and Kubernetes, and leverage a range of AWS tools.

3. Modern Device Management and M365 Administration:

• Oversee the management, development, and deployment of modern device management solutions such as Intune, JAMF, and Workspace ONE.

• Lead automation efforts with Microsoft 365 tools and services to enhance productivity and collaboration.

4. Application Deployment and VDI Migration:

• Lead automated application deployment projects, ensuring smooth and efficient rollouts.

• Manage Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) migration projects and provide ongoing support for VDI environments.

5. Continuous Learning and Improvement:

• Develop a deep understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

• Continuously learn and implement new automation technologies by analyzing technical specifications.

• Ensure adherence to security best practices and support the implementation of best practices across the organization.

6. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting:

• Resolve complex production issues promptly, engaging IT and vendors as needed.

• Provide workday and after-hours support, including troubleshooting and problem correction.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems or a relevant discipline. preferred

Work Experience

5 years of experience in DevOps/SRE/Cloud engineering/IT Operations/SysAdmin role required.

3 years of experience supporting a cloud service; preferably AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure required.

1. Ability to apply independent judgement on most decisions, and to work with minimal guidance.

2. Routinely uses significant judgement on moderate-to-complex business problems.

3. Strong experience with DevOps Tools such DevOps tools like Jenkins, Git, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and Terraform is necessary to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes.

4. Scripting and Programming: advanced proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash and Powershell enables the creation of custom automation scripts and development of infrastructure-as-code solutions.

5. Demonstrates strategic thinking.

6. Experience in team leadership.

7. Strong collaboration skills across departments.

8. Advanced experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or other cloud services, reflecting a senior level of expertise.

9. Any AWS/Azure/GCP Certification (developer, solution architect, networking, infrastructure) (preferred).

10. Advanced experience with modern endpoint management solutions (MDM).

11. Advanced experience with Virtualized Desktop infrastructure and migration of those environments.

12. Strong experience with AWS services and infrastructure.

13. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.

14. Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps.

15. Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

16. Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

17. Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools.

18. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

About CoBank

The typical base pay range for this role is between $115,745 - $160,943. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
