Job Description Join the Mission Engineering team at BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems. We don't just build components; we design the architectures that enable the most critical missions in the space, air, and ground domains. You won't be stuck in a silo-you will be integrated into a team of elite analysts, working on high-stakes projects that define the future of national security. Are you a problem solver who looks at a complex system and wonders, "How does this actually work in the real world?" This is a role for the curious, the ambitious, and the technically minded. We provide the mentorship and the tools; you provide the drive to learn and the desire to innovate. You will start by learning the ropes of our custom-built simulation tool-suite, but you will quickly move toward owning your own analysis and contributing to the design of next-generation systems. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution. What You'll Do: * Learn & Analyze: Master the art of characterizing mission performance. You will use advanced modeling and simulation to determine if a system architecture will succeed or fail before a single piece of hardware is ever built.
* Build & Innovate: You won't just use tools-you'll help build them. You will develop new algorithms and simulation tools to solve complex data analysis problems.
* Collaborate & Contribute: Work side-by-side with senior engineers to hit project milestones and solve technical bottlenecks.
* Develop Your Voice: Gain confidence in professional communication by presenting your findings to peers, management, and customers-with the support and coaching of your team.
* See the Big Picture: Get exposure to the business side of engineering, including proposal writing and strategic planning, giving you a comprehensive understanding of how the industry operates.
* Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
* Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations will be required. The On-Site Advantage: This role is based on-site five days a week. For a newer engineer, this is your greatest advantage. You will have immediate, face-to-face access to senior mentors, the ability to collaborate over a whiteboard in real-time, and a direct connection to the laboratories and production floors where your designs come to life. Working Conditions: * Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
* May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
* May access other facilities in various weather conditions. Required Education, Experience, & Skills * BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience
* Each higher-level degree, i.e., master's degree and/or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
* A current, active Secret security clearance is required with ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.
* Technical Proficiencies
* Programming: Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and C++.
* Analytic Modeling: Demonstrated capability in analytic modeling and the ability to translate complex data sets into comprehensive technical reports.
* Professional Competencies
* Strategic Communication: Ability to synthesize complex technical analysis into professional presentations tailored for internal executive leadership and external customers.
* Collaborative Execution: A proven track record of contributing to the success of small, agile teams through proactive teamwork and effective cross-functional communication. #LI-NP2 Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills * Advanced Education: An MS or PhD in Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
* Domain Expertise: Demonstrated experience with space systems and orbital dynamics, as well as a foundational understanding of signal processing across the electromagnetic spectrum.
