Description

SAIC is seeking a Principal Technical Editor with technical domain experience to work in the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering with the Deputy Director of Strategic Technology Protection & Exploitation. This position is 100% onsite in Arlington, VA.

Job duties include:
  • Write and edit technical documents including briefings, papers, general correspondence, and briefings for grammar, punctuation, formatting, and clarity.
  • Assess and integrate technical and visual information from multiple sources into well-structured and professionally articulated products.
  • Facilitate appropriate review and clearance through Public Affairs and the Office of Security Review.
  • Assess and evaluate technical content against mission objectives and strategic messaging guidance to deliver written and visual products for both internal and external audiences.
  • Facilitate collection and dissemination of materials for coordination and approval.
  • Format documents according to Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) standards.
  • Work with diverse groups to reach agreement on content.
  • Interview subject matter experts to obtain content.
  • Perform document configuration control and storage.
  • Collate, edit, format, and refine DDRE-level reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date OSD templates and formats for the directorate.
  • Lead Knowledge Management effort, to include the maintenance of Shared Drive and Share Point SOPs.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, or related field and ten (10) years experience; Masters and eight (8) years or more experience.
  • Experience writing in engineering or other highly technical domains.
  • Expert skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Understanding and familiarity of Share Point or other collaborative suites.
  • Familiarity with Congressional activities, proposals, and reports.
  • Experience and skill to interact with technical experts in systems engineering.
  • Familiarity with document coordination and work flow practices.

Clearance:
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with ability to obtain a TS/SCI.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous experience within the DoD is preferred.
