About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Engineer to join our dynamic Data Protection team in charge of data backup technology. As a Data Protection Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our data backup and protection solution.

About the team

The Data Protection squad is part of the Platform Tribe. Our squad delivers and operates data backup and protection solution for Swift critical applications.

Our internal processes are highly automated and focus on security, scalability, and operability.

Key responsibilities
  • Work with the Product Owner and Squad members to design, build and operate a scalable, secure, and highly available data backup and protection solution using company and industry best practices
  • Installation, configuration, and operation of the Veritas NetBackup and on Veritas NetBackup FLEX appliances
  • Develop and maintain automation for the deployment, configuration and ongoing management of the data backup and protection solution
  • Analyse system performance and make recommendations for improvements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to infrastructure, deployment, security and performance
  • Ensure the data backup and protection solution adheres to security and compliance standards
  • Implement and maintain monitoring solutions to ensure high availability and performance of the data backup and protection solution
  • Document platform architecture, processes, and procedures
  • Implement and maintain relevant mechanisms related to access controls, security policies and encryption mechanisms
  • Participate in meetings and Agile / Scrum ceremonies
  • Participate in on-call rotation
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and other partners to provide technical expertise and support


Technical skills and competencies
  • Experience on Veritas NetBackup (up to 10.x) and on Veritas NetBackup FLEX appliances (up to 5260 and 5360)
  • Operational experience on Veritas IT Analytics
  • Experience in large scale environments, consisting of thousands of clients
  • Extensive experience backing up virtual environments (ESX) and database environments (Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Monitor backup jobs across multiple platforms and locations, maintain backup policies and standards and troubleshoot performance problems and propose solutions
  • Operating systems knowledge, including Windows and Linux, is required.
  • Develop scripting solutions for backup and restore processes and automation (Ansible)
  • Ability to understand and interpret customer requirements and turn them into an end-to-end solution
  • Provide Tier 3 NetBackup support via a ticketing system including restores, troubleshooting and assisting server and database administrators
  • Analyze reports and resolve backup errors and incidents
  • Follow and maintain in-house documentation for repeatable processes
  • Work closely with vendors on support and maintenance
  • Being self-motivated, ability to work independently with solid sense of responsibility
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)


A plus is:
  • Experience with Veritas Alta SaaS protection
  • Experience with Veritas Recovery Vault
  • In-depth storage knowledge on the NetBackup FLEX appliances
