AIRCRAFT MECHANIC with Security Clearance

Duties Help Perform inspection and troubleshooting on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components in accordance with applicable technical orders/commercial manuals (C40 only) and specifications. Position, maintain, disassemble, repair, and reassemble aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components in accordance with applicable technical orders and specifications. Accomplish aircraft maintenance and equipment record keeping, both manual and automated, associated with aircraft maintenance and repair. Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area. Verify and certify work processes and procedures and adequacy of work accomplished by certified co-workers and trainees. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Ability to do the work of an Aircraft Mechanic without more than normal supervision. (Screen Out Element) 2. Knowledge of technical practices associated with the aircraft mechanic trade such as equipment assembly, installation, repair of a variety of major interrelated and/or integrated aircraft systems, subsystems and assemblies. 3. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment of the trade including fixtures, templates, scales, test stands and external power sources. 4. Ability to interpret, read and understand instructions, specifications, blueprints, technical orders and data and settings from cockpit instruments and gauges. 5. Skill in the operation of diagnostic and on-board electronic equipment/systems to identify proper and improper operation of aircraft systems, components and parts. 6. Ability to rig, operationally test, and/or troubleshoot systems; determine when they are operating properly or whether portions of the system should be repaired or replaced; and the type and extent of adjustment and alignment needed. This is an ART position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA) weekends. The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may also be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. This position is designated as Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. As a mandatory requirement for employment, the incumbent is to refrain from the use of illegal drugs and if requested, submit to urinalysis testing. Appointee must sign a statement acknowledging the position occupied is a TDP. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
