Together, we thrive as we shape the future of health for patients, our communities, and our people. If you want to be part of tomorrow's health today, we want to hear from you.
As a Technology Vendor Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of IT suppliers supporting a specific Service Area within McKesson Technology, ensuring that each partnership aligns with their business objectives and contributes positively to their operations. You will be responsible for developing a comprehensive strategy and managing and monitoring performance for this subset of suppliers, aligned with the overall direction and supplier framework for all key McKesson Technology suppliers. Although your focus will be in one or more specific Service Area(s), it is critical to take a holistic view of McKesson Technology suppliers, and where a Service Area has the most spend/criticality with one supplier, you will lead the enterprise viewpoint across all Service Areas for that supplier. This evolving position will be a trusted advisor across the enterprise, to educate and enable teams to make the best-informed sourcing decisions to ensure McKesson Technology receives optimal value from our vendor partners. The role will report to the Vendor Director, Enterprise IT VMO. This role is part of a larger Vendor Management Organization that is being created to provide ongoing governance, oversight, and management of McKesson Technology's strategic 3rd parties. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in service operations, vendor selection (consulting, product development, managed services), that can create an engagement model, and design and execute strategic partnership deals in support of MT business and operational goals.
This role will be a key relationship position and primary liaison between our vendor partners and our delivery teams (Service Areas) within McKesson Technology.
This role requires a leader who can collaborate with senior McKesson executives, aligning IT Vendor Management strategies with broader corporate objectives and driving the improvement of service quality and process efficiency. Additionally, the Manager will ensure strict adherence to internal policies, contractual commitments, and regulatory requirements, enforcing governance standards across all third-party engagements.
This Manager will have some level of oversight of external third-party providers, and will lead initiatives that promote collaboration, accountability, and operational excellence while ensuring McKesson maximizes the value from its vendor partnerships.
This position calls for a strategic thinker with strong leadership abilities, deep expertise in vendor management, IT proficiency (Applications, SDLC, Infrastructure), and a proven track record of managing complex, high-value third-party relationships in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key IT suppliers and internal customers, acting as the key point of contact for relationship and overall supplier performance.
- A solid understanding of IT systems, software, and infrastructure to effectively evaluate vendor capabilities and solutions.
- Strong project management skills to coordinate and oversee vendor-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Knowledge of risk management practices to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks associated with vendor partnerships.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure there is a good match/fit with supplier capabilities and platform/work area needs. Create a champion challenger model where possible to mitigate single supplier risk and foster competition to derive additional value.
- Foster open communication channels with suppliers to address issues promptly, resolve conflicts and ensure alignment with organization goals and priorities.
- Oversee the onboarding process for new IT suppliers providing training and support, and to ensure they meet organizational standards and understand expectations. Manage supplier offboarding to ensure a smooth transition, including all required training, documentation, compliance, and support throughout the process.
Contract Negotiation and Management
- Manage and monitor contract compliance, implementing a robust dispute resolution process to address any key issues in a timely manner,
- Develop and maintain a centralized contract repository for easy access and tracking.
- Proactively advise when renewal and/or terminations are due, and partner with the Sourcing & Procurement (S&P) organization and the Service Area leader/Service Category Manager in contract negotiations including terms, pricing, and service level agreements (SLAs) to achieve favorable terms.
- Define performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), regularly monitoring supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality standards, timelines, and costs.
- Deliver management reporting to provide actionable insights.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction and value creation within supplier relationships. Encourage suppliers to adopt innovative practices and contribute ideas to enhance service delivery, quality, and efficiency.
Deliverables:
Supplier Relationship Strategy: A comprehensive strategy supporting organizational and business goals and aligned to the broader supplier strategy for McKesson Technology.
Performance Metrics and Dashboards: Established KPIs and performance metrics for tracking supplier adherence to SLAs, quality standards, delivery timelines and cost effectiveness. Defined escalation paths for addressing issues and decision-making protocols for decisions affecting supplier relationships and performance.
Supplier Performance Reporting: Scheduled performance reviews for all critical and/or strategic suppliers, including quantitative and qualitative evaluations. Provide management reporting and insights to identify areas of strength and opportunity and to hold both the supplier and the Category Manager accountable for performance.
Risk & Compliance Management Plan: A risk management plan that identifies potential risks and defines contingency plans for critical suppliers. Include regular audit processes and checklists for supplier compliance with industry and organizational standards.
Innovation and Collaboration initiatives: Defines improvement objectives for critical suppliers such as product/service enhancements, quality and/or process improvements and cost savings or providing additional value.
Best Practices and Lessons Learned: A repository of best practices, lessons learned, and success stories in supplier management to improve future engagements. Updated policies and process documents based on continuous feedback and evolving business needs.
