Education and Certifications:
  • Degree/Certification: An associate or bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related fields. Certifications in quality assurance, metrology, or aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100 certification) would be a plus.
  • Relevant Training: Training in GD&T, CMM operations, or precision measurement would be ideal.
Responsibilities:
  • To perform a jig verification check after the LAIs has been completed.
  • To perform the verification checks using a laser tracker or equivalent and to be performed as per including Periodic Inspection Points (PIP) drawings.
  • To verify the Key Features of each jig are within specified tolerances as indicated on PIP drawings .
  • To create a PIP report for each jig and submit to customer for evaluation.
  • To create a jig verification procedure and submit to customer for approval before the jig verification work can begin .
  • To perform a jig verification check after the Jigs have moved and placed in their final position

Key Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Metrology and Precision Measurement Expertise
    • Experience with precision measurement tools such as CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), calipers, micrometers, laser trackers, and other advanced measuring equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and technical specifications.
  2. Understanding of Jigs and Fixtures
    • Knowledge of jigs, fixtures, and tooling used in aerospace or other high-precision manufacturing industries.
    • Experience with jig design, functionality checks, and adjusting fixtures to meet the required tolerances.
  3. Calibration Knowledge
    • Experience with calibrating tools and equipment used for verification purposes, ensuring they are certified according to industry standards.
    • Familiarity with tool calibration standards (ISO/IEC 17025, AS9100) and the ability to perform calibration checks.
  4. Problem-Solving Skills
    • Ability to identify deviations or discrepancies in jig or fixture accuracy and implement adjustments or rework.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve any functional or fitment issues during the verification process.
  5. Quality Assurance and Inspection
    • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) like AS9100, ISO 9001, or NADCAP, particularly in aerospace.
    • Experience in conducting detailed inspection reports, documenting verification results, and providing traceability records.
    • Strong understanding of tolerances, and how they relate to the overall quality and fit of manufactured parts.
  6. Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes
    • Understanding of manufacturing processes, especially aerospace-related ones such as machining, assembly, and composite fabrication.
    • Familiarity with production environments where jigs and fixtures are used, to assess their impact on product quality.
  7. Attention to Detail
    • High attention to detail to ensure that all inspections are performed accurately, and any potential issues are identified early.
    • Ability to follow strict guidelines, procedures, and quality standards.

  • Communication: Strong communication skills to interact with site engineers, quality managers, and suppliers effectively, ensuring the jig verification process is clearly understood.
  • Documentation: Ability to maintain comprehensive records and documentation for traceability and compliance purposes.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work on-site and perform on-site verifications if necessary.
