The FAST Labs business area is the innovative research and development engine within the Electronic Systems Sector of BAE Systems. We are a fast-paced environment, creating prototype, proof of concept, and low volume product with minimal process and documentation requirements. Join our team as a Systems Engineer in FAST Labs Engineering
As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge RF or EO/IR projects, collaborating with others to design, develop, and implement innovative mission solutions. The successful candidate will be an integral of our team by delivering innovative, technical contributions on a range of programs through activities such as system architecting, design, and documentation leveraging digital processes. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to apply their DE domain knowledge for test planning activities, system integration & test, qualification testing, and test execution in a field deployment environment. Key responsibilities may include:
* Architecting, designing, and documenting early lifecycle, RF/EW/Cyber systems and associated capabilities through DE best practices
* Working with multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams to ensure successful system integration
* Ownership technical products that are key for system development success
* Participation in product integration and verification
* Developing test and verification strategies that help minimize program cost and technical risk
* Defining test and verification methods, events, and constraints for all system requirements
* Collaborating with customer and internal program leadership to coordinate, schedule, and ensure readiness to perform test eventsBecause of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and secure access to sensitive information, this role will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time. Required Education, Experience, & Skills * Active Secret Clearance
* Bachelor's Degree in optical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical field
* Experience with or knowledge of systems and "system of systems" architecture development processes
* Experience with or knowledge of applying DE, including Model Based Systems Engineering tools, to enable system development Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills * Active Top Secret Clearance
* Master's Degree or PhD in optical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical field
* Have active U.S. TS/SCI security clearance
* Hands-on experience or knowledge in any of the following areas
* use of MATLAB or other programming languages/tools
* Digital Communication waveforms of Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
* test equipment including RF sources, pulse generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, power meters, power supplies, and digital multi-meters
* test and experimentation efforts in relevant environments
* Experience with modern, agile software development methods
* Experience with laboratory integration and test activities for RF/Cyber/and EW capabilities
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers in other disciplines
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing requirements
