Job Summary

The IBM DB2 LUW Database Systems Administrator will manage complex technology implementations, focusing on simplifying and optimizing systems. This role requires strong collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to align technical design with business goals. The administrator will be responsible for system architecture, including:

  • Database Management: Administer and tune IBM DB2 LUW databases.
  • Automation: Automate daily management tasks and develop scripts using tools like PowerShell and Python.
  • Monitoring: Implement continuous integration and monitoring solutions.
  • Collaboration: Work with stakeholders to establish success criteria and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • DBA Duties: Administer IBM DB2 LUW database systems, including backup, restore, and disaster recovery.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize SQL and database performance.
  • System Upgrades: Install and upgrade IBM DB2 databases and related software.
  • Capacity Planning: Manage data and log files, ensuring integrity and availability.
  • Documentation: Maintain upgrade procedures and change management documents.

Required Skills

  • Experience: 8+ years in systems development, analysis, or database administration.
  • IBM DB2 LUW Administration: 5+ years of experience administering IBM DB2 LUW database systems.
  • Performance Tuning: 5+ years of experience in SQL tuning for IBM DB2 databases.
  • Automation: 5+ years of experience in creating automation scripts using tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Jenkins.
  • Communication: Strong skills in collaborating with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Monitoring Tools: 3+ years of experience with IBM DB2 Data Management Console.

Preferred Skills

  • Extended Experience: 10+ years in IBM DB2 LUW administration and RedHat Linux environments.
  • DevOps Tools: 5+ years of experience using GIT source code management and other DevOps practices.
  • Cloud Management: 5+ years of experience managing databases on platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • SQL Server Management: 5+ years of proficiency in SQL Server, including Always On clustering.
