Cybersecurity Project Engineer with Security Clearance

Job Title: Cyber Security Project EngineerLocation: On-site McLean, VAClearance Required: Active TS/SCI with Full Scope PolygraphCompany: Quantum Science Solutions (QSS)Rate: OpenPosition OverviewQuantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Project Engineer to support a mission-critical federal program in McLean, VA. This role operates within a secure Agile DevSecOps environment and is responsible for engineering, integrating, securing, and sustaining cloud-based systems and applications in compliance with enterprise security, accreditation, and operational requirements.The Cyber Security Project Engineer will provide hands-on technical expertise across secure software development, cloud infrastructure, data protection, system accreditation, and continuous monitoring, ensuring systems remain resilient, compliant, and mission ready throughout their lifecycle. Key Responsibilities• Engineer, develop, and secure cloud-based systems using enterprise SecDevOps toolchains supporting CI/CD pipelines and microservices architectures.• Perform full-stack application development using Vue (JavaScript), FastAPI (Python), and PostgreSQL hosted on AWS RDS.• Design, deploy, and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions for cloud networking, services, and application environments.• Deploy, operate, and sustain secure web services across cloud infrastructures.• Implement cloud infrastructure resiliency, high availability, and on-demand scaling practices.• Engineer secure and usable user interfaces, establishing standards for usability and accessibility.• Architect and develop large-scale data solutions supporting efficient search, analytics, and reporting.• Perform entity resolution across large and continuously growing data sets.• Facilitate and support Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities and system accreditation efforts.• Manage data set permissions and access controls in accordance with security and governance requirements.• Ensure IT security compliance through auditing, monitoring, and continuous assessment.• Develop and implement configuration management plans and processes for software applications and databases.• Develop and deploy containerized applications using Podman.• Operate and maintain systems across development and production environments, including FidOS and CLSE.• Provide operations and maintenance support for cloud infrastructure, applications, and databases.• Resolve defects, implement enhancements, and evolve system functionality to support mission needs.• Perform continuous monitoring of system functionality and data ingestion during business hours.• Maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) defining data standards and allowable ingestion schemas.• Develop and maintain system documentation, user guides, and training materials. Mandatory Skills & Experience• Demonstrated experience in software design and development using enterprise SecDevOps tools.• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and microservices architectures on cloud infrastructure.• Full-stack development experience using Vue (JavaScript), FastAPI (Python), and PostgreSQL (AWS RDS).• Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code for cloud networking and service administration.• Experience deploying, operating, and maintaining cloud-based web services.• Experience implementing cloud resiliency, scalability, and availability strategies.• Experience architecting and developing large-scale data solutions.• Experience performing entity resolution across large data sets.• Experience facilitating system accreditation and A&A processes.• Experience managing data set permissions and access controls.• Experience with IT security compliance, auditing, and monitoring.• Experience developing and implementing configuration management processes.• Experience working with operating systems including FidOS and CLSE.• Experience developing containerized applications using Podman.• Experience working in Agile and DevSecOps environments. Education Requirement• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.• Equivalent professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Skills• Cloud architecture or cloud services certification.• Experience operating and maintaining systems in highly secure environments.• Experience supporting systems on JWICS.• Experience ingesting data records into software applications.• Experience handling exceptional data records and safeguarding sensitive information.• Experience developing and maintaining digital content using platforms such as Confluence.• Experience designing and developing AI/ML or deep learning solutions at scale.• Experience using analytics and quality assurance platforms such as Sigma and Analytic Workbench.• Experience deploying applications using Kubernetes or similar orchestration platforms, including AWS EKS.• Experience developing applications using standardized enterprise templates.• Experience using enterprise tools to support A&A processing and data permission management.• Experience working with Sponsor-developed operating systems including FidOSand CLSE.
