Get to Know Your Team:
- Lovelace Medical Center is an acute care hospital with 263 licensed beds, providing comprehensive care, including around-the-clock emergency care, surgical services, non-invasive robotic spine surgery, stroke care, radiology and oncology services.
Responsibilities
- Work under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all necessary duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
- Observe patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
- Obtain and record patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
- Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
- Measure and record patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with range of motion, and draws blood.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
Preferred Job Requirements:
- 2 years' experience in acute or long-term care
- Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification which includes BLS, or currently enrolled in nursing school
- Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course
- Knowledge of medical terminology

As a Patient Care Technician on the Med Surg floor, I assist patients with daily activities and monitor their vital signs under the supervision of medical staff. I provide essential support in patient care, including transportation and specimen collection, while documenting patient progress to ensure effective communication with the nursing team. My role is vital to delivering quality healthcare in an acute care environment, contributing to the overall well-being of patients.
