Core skills include crisis assessment, intake assessment, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, treatment planning, case management, team/community collaboration, patient/family education, and triage/discharge planning. This position also interfaces with managed care for the purpose of obtaining authorization for treatment. As skill set permits, may provide flexible coverage to another service within Behavioral Health on a short-term basis. Contributes to creating a caring and compassionate environment through ECHN#s Core Values of Teamwork, Communication, Respect and Caring. # EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION This position requires a Master#s Degree and licensure in the State of Connecticut as Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC).# Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification is considered a plus.# EXPERIENCE Clinicians in Child and Adolescent Services must have a minimum of one (1) year experience in family therapy with age group served, preferably in the Behavioral Health Field and level of care age-specific competencies are required. Training and/or familiarity with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), familiarity with abuse and neglect reporting and duty-to-warn mandates, knowledge of community-based resources and experience with pre-authorization and billing processes is preferred.# COMPETENCIES This position requires computer competency with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook, strong clinical skills including a demonstrated team orientation, and strong written as well as verbal communication skills using the English language. Must be flexible in approach so that service-specific as well as overall system needs can be met. Must be able to function effectively and, at times, independently in an environment where multitasking is necessary.## Certain Incumbents must#posses#and maintain a valid drivers# license with public passenger endorsement, maintain a driving record free of any violations and pass a safe driving educational program upon hire and annually thereafter in order to participate in the Fleet Vehicle Program as outlined in the Eastern Connecticut Health Network#s Environment of Care Safety Policies and Procedures #110. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Disclaimer: Job descriptions are not intended, nor should they be construed to be, exhaustive lists of all responsibilities, skills, efforts or working conditions associated with the job.# They are intended to be accurate reflections of the principal duties and responsibilities of this position.# These responsibilities and competencies listed below may change from time to time. # # Job-Specific Competency 1.##### Demonstrates skill in gathering and assessing comprehensive information regarding biopsychosocial influences and etiology of addiction and co-morbid psychiatric disorders, including: client#s physical status and compulsion/preoccupation, as evidenced by chart reviews and supervisor observations. 2.##### Develops, implements and modifies treatment plans, interventions, and disposition/discharge plans as needed, addressing both age-specific and substance abuse-specific issues within professional standards and per department guidelines, as evidenced by chart reviews and supervisor observations. 3.##### Makes timely and appropriate referrals to the least restrictive setting, demonstrating knowledge of levels of care and appropriate community and treatment resources and appropriate transfer/discharge planning, as evidenced by chart reviews, feedback on satisfaction surveys and supervisor observations. 4.##### Completes all requested forms, documentation and other reporting requirements in a timely manner and in accordance with Department of Children and Families (DCF), managed care, JCAHO and other standards with which program must comply, as evidenced by chart reviews and supervisor observation.# 5.##### Demonstrates timely and appropriate documentation and accountability with respect to authorization for treatment, as evidenced by absence of unauthorized treatment issues and/or denials for reimbursement by payer. 6.##### Demonstrates sound knowledge base of, and appreciation for, growth and development and current issues specific to age group being served, as evidenced by development of age-appropriate treatment plans and therapeutic interventions in individual, family and group therapy, as evidenced by chart reviews, supervisor observations and successful completion of competency. 7.##### Demonstrates flexibility in meeting the fluctuating staffing needs of the department, as evidenced by willingness to adjust scheduled hours and assignments in accordance with the needs of the program, as evidenced by supervisor observation. 8.##### Demonstrates value of patient and family education, utilizing appropriate psychoeducational material, as evidenced by chart reviews, feedback on satisfaction surveys and supervisor observation. 9.##### Establishes rapport with patient and family, consistently demonstrating perceptiveness and empathy in clinical interactions, as evidenced by patient and family feedback and supervisor observation. 10.# Facilitates skill development by careful planning of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) groups and implementation of DBT in individual and family therapy, as evidenced by chart reviews, patient and family feedback and supervisor observation. 11.# Effectively uses psychological and physical management techniques to manage violent or potentially violent situations consistent with Physical Management Training (PMT), as evidenced by participation in Early Response Team and Dr. Strong codes, peer feedback, supervisor observation and attendance at annual PMT refresher. 12.# Consistently obtains releases of information, and communicates and coordinates with community providers, Department of Children and Families (DCF), etc., during treatment and at the time of discharge, as evidenced by chart reviews, discharge plans and supervisor observation. 13.# Demonstrates accuracy in scheduling and communicating patient#s scheduled days to attend program/session with patient, family and those responsible for transportation, as evidenced by peer, patient and family feedback, productivity on location reports and supervisor observation. 14.# Demonstrates ability to identify obstacles and barriers that interfere with treatment compliance and resolve issues, as evidenced by attendance, treatment outcome, feedback from patient and family and supervisor observation.# 15.# Actively participates in individual or group clinical supervision by presenting cases for discussion, identifying clinical skill areas needing improvement and openly accepting feedback from supervisor and peers, as evidenced by supervisor observation. #HPECHN
