Job Summary and Qualifications

Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.

  • Use therapeutic communication in daily practice.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic Intensive Care environment.
  • Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual ACC patients.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process.
  • Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care.
  • Promote a supportive environment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect and appreciation of their lifestyle, religion and culture.
  • Maintain high quality, age specific care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as assigned.
  • Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver.
  • Participate in Cardiovascular Department specific initiatives and process improvement.
  • Provide supervision of new employees, patient care assistants, nurse technicians, student nurses, and / or nurse interns.
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider.
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license
  • Will take Associate Degree or Bachelors Degree in Nursing . IF ADN must get BSN within 24 months of hire date into RN position
  • Minimum 1 year Experience Required
  • Experience with high acuity ICU medical / surgical patients is preferred.

  • Level 2 Competencies:

  • •Graft vs Host disease identification and management

    •Management of Cellular Therapy Complications

    •Tumor Lysis Syndrome Identification/Oncologic

    •Infection prevention - neutropenic patients

    •Administration of blood products

    •Chemotherapy/Biotherapy administration and management (Certification)

    •Disease knowledge (leukemias, lymphomas, general blood dyscrasias)
