Responsibilities:- Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition and establishes a plan of care.
- Performs therapy programs utilizing standard speech therapy techniques as appropriate for the age and disability of the patient.
- Documents delivery of Speech Therapy services.
- Educates patients, family, caregivers and significant others.
- Promotes physical rehabilitation services through community/system based education activities, marketing opportunities, and support groups.
- Accepts the role of Clinical Instructor to supervise/educate students from accredited speech therapy programs.
- Acts as a preceptor
- Participates in planning for the provision of patient care services.
- Provides staff in-service upon returning from continuing education or professional conferences.
- Performs inpatient and outpatient fiber optic endoscopic evaluation of swallow (FEES)
Education
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
Experience
- Previous experience in hospital preferred; dysphagia experience preferred; Medicare documentation experience preferred. For Outpatient setting: Experience with outpatients, dysphagia, Vital Stim certification and Medicare documentation preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration/ETC.
- Current Oklahoma license for Speech-Language Pathology or SLP license eligible with a temporary license, or eligible for a temporary license.
- Must have ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence or complete with in the first year under a licensed therapist as a CFY.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
