Speech Pathologist

The Speech Pathologist is responsible for evaluating and treating speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients. They work closely with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate therapy activities and develop programs while ensuring patient education and training. This position requires a Master's degree in speech pathology, current licensing, and demonstrated clinical competencies.

Scope
As an SLP you need to know how to:
- Carry out speech therapy evaluations, program planning and treatments for hospital inpatients and outpatients.
- Work closely with the Physical Medicine Director in coordinating speech therapy activities with other hospital disciplines and in developing a program for department expansion, community and physician marketing, budget needs, and department administration.
- Work independently with limited contact with other Speech Language Pathologists.
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters degree in speech pathology, required
- Current license to practice speech-language pathology in the State of Colorado, required
- Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) and achieve clinical competencies by the required clinical internships, required
- Strong Clinical Fellows with demonstrated competence may work under supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist while completing the fellowship year
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, required by completion of the unit-specific orientation and before working independently
At least six (6) months of experience in the acute care setting, including experience with Modified Barium Swallow Studies, preferred
Physical Requirements:
