The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Obtaining quality x-rays using correct position and radiation exposure;
  2. Implementing safety procedures for patients, self, and staff to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation;
  3. Creating and documenting x-ray CD copies correctly according to Patient First guidelines. Labeling images and sleeves correctly when making these copies;
  4. Understanding the x-ray and processing equipment so that it will be used correctly;
  5. Using and understanding the bell system;
  6. Filing and maintaining all x-ray paperwork;
  7. Ensuring the safety of patients when using wheelchairs, stools, and other equipment;
  8. Understanding and using the following: Daily Log, X-Ray Listing, Copy Listing, and X-Ray Status Screen;
  9. Understanding and using the automated medical records system;
  10. Cleaning work area, biological cleanup in accordance with OSHA guidelines and other maintenance assignments as directed;
  11. Receiving, moving, and restocking ordered supplies;
  12. Adhering to established Patient First policies and procedures;
  13. Addressing physician and nurse requests with respect and in a timely manner;
  14. Completing the tasks listed on the checklists for the x-ray area and treatment area;
  15. Attending training classes and staff meetings as scheduled;
  16. Being available as needed, breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted at any time for patient care and to maintain center operations;
  17. Responsible for the operating, using and maintaining medical and office equipment as trained.

Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Employee must be at least 18 years of age;
  2. High school graduate or equivalent;
  3. Keyboarding experience required;
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  5. One year of clerical experience preferred;
  6. One year of clinical experience preferred;
  7. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT);
  8. Licensed to practice as Radiologic Technologist by the Maryland Board of Physicians.
