HVAC Truck Based Tradesman (union) at Johnson Controls summary:

The HVAC Truck Based Tradesman is responsible for providing high-quality service and support to resolve building inefficiencies while performing mechanical installations and preventive maintenance checks. This position requires knowledge of HVAC systems, troubleshooting abilities, and effective communication skills, all under the guidance of experienced peers. Candidates must have a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and are encouraged to have EPA certification for refrigerant handling.

 Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service

How you will do it:

Tradesman shall perform mechanical installations and drive results, mentored by your peers and all other work coming under the labor agreement assigned by the Employer, limited only by their capabilities as determined by the Employer, at the respective apprentice rate of pay, and shall perform all assigned work under the direction of the Employer. Troubleshoots and resolves problems. Responds to basic warranty calls. Keeps JCI, contractors, and the customer informed of job progress and issues as needed.  Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

                                                                                                                                  

What we look for:

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to perform mechanical installations.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently.
  • This position requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Repair equipment, such as compressors, water pumps, air handlers, electrical and mechanical control devices in a safe, efficient, and timely manner that exceeds customers’ expectations. 
  • Be proactive in refrigerant leak checking and repairs.
  • Perform refrigeration/HVAC preventive maintenance checks in a timely manner as assigned.  
  • Monitor and log refrigerant usage within assigned stores.
  • Participate in company’s “on call” after hours emergency call program. 
  • Assist with trouble shooting problems. 
  • Complete equipment inventories as assigned. 
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 

Preferred

  • Experience with supermarket rack systems, display cases, self-contained cases, ice machines and walk-ins highly preferred. 
  • EPA certified for refrigerant handling class I & II, or universal. 

This is a bargaining unit position
