Position Details
The Director of Safety and Health will provide comprehensive professional support to management and all employees working across the company.
Responsible for leading and managing the Company's Safety and Health initiatives, loss control programs, and the development of a safety and risk management culture dedicated to being best in class. Assures company policies and practices are designed to comply with OSHA, NYS DOL, DOT, FMCSA, ANSI, NYS DEC and EPA rules and regulations as they apply to General Contractors and the operations of the company.
Key Roles /Responsibilities
- Oversee safety performance of all projects and locations
- Communicate and provide monthly reports to senior leadership
- Maintain and annually update Companies Health and Safety Plan(s)
- Manage and provide technical Safety data for ISN/AVETTA and other client 3rd party evaluators.
- Manage and provide support for Medical Monitoring Programs
- Manage the procurement, warehousing and overall management of Safety related equipment and materials
- Manage Workers Compensation, incident investigations and medical management / return to work initiatives.
- Manage DOT Fleet drivers -Non –CDL criteria and compliance
- Coordinate and or complete office and field safety audits
- Provide technical support for confined space entry, fall hazards, traffic control, etc.
- Investigate and manage General liability claims
- Investigate auto accidents and manage insurance claims
- Maintain OSHA 300, 300A logs and distribute/post as needed
- Ensure subcontractors adequately complying with safety rules
- Provide and support technical safety data and information as needed for proposals
- Support project teams with client requirements for site visits and safety meetings
- Work with project teams on identifying required safety training
- Manage/author and distribute Safety Notifications
- Review and approve site specific safety plans and Accident Prevention Plans
- Oversee incident tracking program
- Assist with the contract prequalification process
- Assist estimating staff with bids and proposals for additional work

The requirements for the position are:
- Minimum 5 years in Safety, heavy construction experience preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety, industrial hygiene, safety management, environmental science, occupational health or other related field
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Proven ability to communicate and work with job crews on safety matters
- Highly effective written, oral and presentation skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands
- Technical understanding of key regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT,
ANSI, and EPA rules and regulations as they may apply
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Possess valid driver's license
- Be us citizen or legally authorized to work
- Be over 18
- Detail orientated
