The IT Helpdesk Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily operations of the IT Helpdesk team, ensuring exceptional technical support is provided to internal users. This role supervises helpdesk staff, manages service requests and incidents, establishes service level expectations, and serves as an escalation point for complex technical issues. The IT Helpdesk Supervisor works closely with IT leadership to improve support processes, maintain system reliability, and enhance the overall user experience.
Leadership & Team Management
Supervise, coach, and mentor Helpdesk Technicians and Support Specialists.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development.
Manage scheduling, workload distribution, and helpdesk coverage.
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training new team members.
Foster a customer-focused and collaborative team environment.
Helpdesk Operations
Monitor daily helpdesk activities, ticket queues, and service levels.
Ensure timely resolution of incidents, requests, and technical issues.
Manage ticket assignment and escalation procedures.
Develop and maintain support processes, policies, and documentation.
Track and report on key performance metrics and helpdesk productivity.
Technical Support
Serve as the escalation point for complex hardware, software, network, and system issues.
Support desktop, laptop, mobile device, printer, and peripheral troubleshooting.
Assist with user account administration, password management, and access permissions.
Coordinate system upgrades, software deployments, and technology rollouts.
Ensure proper documentation of incidents, resolutions, and knowledge base articles.
Service Improvement & Compliance
Analyze helpdesk trends to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
Recommend and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and user satisfaction.
Maintain compliance with company security policies and IT best practices.
Participate in disaster recovery planning, business continuity initiatives, and cybersecurity awareness efforts.
Collaborate with vendors and third-party service providers as needed.
Qualifications
Education
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
3-5+ years of IT support or helpdesk experience.
1-3+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
Experience working within an IT Service Management (ITSM) environment.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365.
Familiarity with Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and user administration.
Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Zendesk, or Freshservice.
Understanding of networking fundamentals, hardware support, and endpoint management.
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and ITIL principles preferred.
