Food Safety Coordinator - Kitchen
Philadelphia, PA 19153 (near Philadelphia International Airport) | On-site | Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour | Benefits start day one
Schedule: Mostly 6:00am - 2:00pm, with weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled
Have you worked in food production, a commercial kitchen, or food manufacturing? If you're detail-oriented and comfortable on a tablet, this is your step into food safety and quality assurance. Training provided.
About the Company
Our client is a national leader in airline catering, preparing millions of meals each year for major airlines and retail partners. The Philadelphia kitchen runs 24/7 with a fast-paced, team-oriented crew.
The Role
You'll report to the Executive Chef and keep the kitchen's daily food safety records accurate. That covers HACCP temperature logs, food and allergen labeling, and the data entry that keeps production on track. This is a hands-on role on the kitchen floor, not a desk job.
What You'll Do
- Take and record food temperatures, and complete daily HACCP logs and thaw logs
- Make sure finished items are properly wrapped and labeled, including allergen stickers
- Enter daily food safety and quality records, including tastings, quality observations, and waste logs, on a tablet and computer
- Check records for accuracy, and flag missing information or food safety concerns to the Chef
- Use digital plating specifications to help the team plate items correctly
- Track product quantities so the storeroom knows when and how much to pull
- Print and distribute daily inventory logs and prep sheets
- Work with the Chef and kitchen team to keep records current and production moving
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic food safety knowledge: safe handling, safe food temperatures, wrapping, and labeling
- Comfortable using a computer and tablet for daily data entry
- Strong reading and writing skills, and close attention to detail
- Able to stand and walk 6-7 hours of an 8-hour shift
- Able to work in cold areas (below 40°ree;F) and lift or push 25+ lbs
- Available for early shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Able to pass a background check and drug screen
- Able to follow production floor rules, including no jewelry (including piercings) or nail polish
Nice to Have
- Experience in food production, food manufacturing, or a commercial kitchen
- Experience keeping HACCP or temperature logs
- Exposure to USDA, FDA, or PCQI requirements
- Food safety, quality control, or kitchen documentation experience
- Background in meat or poultry processing, prepared foods, bakeries, commissaries, central kitchens, institutional food service (hospitals, universities, stadiums), or airline catering
Why You'll Like It
- Benefits start on day one
- Early-day schedule, with most shifts ending at 2:00pm
- Fast hiring: one interview with HR and the Chef, including a kitchen tour
- On-the-job training in food safety and quality assurance
- Stable, full-time work with a national leader in airline catering
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off and holidays
- Life and AD&D insurance
- Tuition reimbursement
- Free parking
