Surgical Technician – General Surgery at Providence summary:
The Surgical Technician supports general surgery procedures by preparing the surgical environment, maintaining sterile fields, assisting the surgeon and surgical team, and managing surgical instruments and specimens. Candidates must have completed a Surgical Tech program, hold national certification, and have basic life support certification. The primary duties of the Surgical Technician include: being prepared for and knowledgeable of the surgical procedure to be performed, setting up and maintaining a sterile field, assists surgeon as necessary, assists circulating nurse and other members of the surgical team, maintains familiarity, function and proper care of all OR equipment and instruments. The Surgical Technician initiates responsibility for care of specimens and performs other related duties as assigned.
