About the Role
Join a small AI video engineering team as its technical lead for backend systems. You will build the infrastructure behind AI-powered video workflows and help set engineering standards as the product and team grow.
What You'll Do
Design and develop scalable backend systems for AI-powered video creation.
Build infrastructure for agentic workflows, video generation pipelines, reinforcement learning loops, and real-time data processing.
Own distributed systems architecture and improve reliability through testing, performance benchmarks, and end-to-end observability.
Partner with researchers, engineers, and designers to develop product features and APIs.
Set technical direction and engineering guidelines, write production-quality code, and document technical decisions.
Define agent skills and communicate clearly within a fast-moving, in-person team.
What We're Looking For
5 to 10 years of backend software engineering experience, including experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup.
A formal degree and strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and system design.
Industry experience building scalable backend and distributed systems, including large-scale data processing, information retrieval, and asynchronous workflows.
At least 12 months of industry experience designing and building agentic systems, LLMs, or generative AI.
Industry experience with TypeScript and AWS, including familiarity with services such as S3, Lambda, RDS, SQS, or ECS.
Experience acting as a technical lead and setting technical direction and code standards.
Fluent written and spoken English.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary is $225,000 to $275,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
On-site, five days a week in San Francisco, California.
