Description

The Solution Architect is responsible for developing comprehensive technical architecture, design, and blueprint of the IT solutions for the Federal programs supported by Sierra7. They will apply industry best practices and federal architecture standards along with proven solutions that combine Agile, Cloud and Mobile technologies to develop tailored solutions during all stages of proposal development. This individual is expected to apply analytical, problem-solving and communication skills to find and present technology solutions aligned to deliver winning proposals to Federal Civilian, Federal Health, and DoD markets.

The Solution Architect will collaborate with Capture and Proposal Managers, Partners, and Operations to create innovative solutions for Federal agencies, driving business growth and customer success. Utilizing the Shipley proposal process, they will manage the technical volume, effort estimations, and overall solutions design, supporting service delivery from proposal submission through contract award. Responsibilities include leading brainstorming sessions, providing technical reviews, designing graphics concepts, conducting technical research, solutions design, and authoring proposal content.

Must be able to go into the Corporate Office 2 days a week in McLean, Virginia & Travel as needed for client/site visits in the DMV area.

Position Responsibilities:
  • The Solution Architect will design innovative, cost-effective, and technical solutions that meet and exceed customer requirements. The Architect will accomplish this by:
    • Collaborating with Business Development and Capture teams, to understand the agency requirements. The Solution Architect will serve as the technical lead across the BD Lifecycle, offering technical leadership and consulting level support in all stages of the effort. Additionally, the Solution Architect will represent Sierra7 as technology solutions expert at industry day events, customer engagements, Federal technology forums and IT modernization initiatives
    • Collecting and processing strategic plans, goals and objectives of VA, DoD and other Federal agencies to proactively develop technology solutions that produce winning proposals. The Solution Architect is responsible for ensuring that proposals align with corporate processes and methodologies, demonstrating an understanding of customer business needs, clear description of the technical solution being offered, and partnering with Operations to deliver a competitive Level of Effort (staffing plan)
    • Facilitating Solution Sessions and other Collaborative calls with teaming partners and internal bid contributors. This includes supporting color teams to evaluate the technical response for accuracy, cohesiveness, compliance, and ensure it conveys a compelling solution.
Requirements
  • Solutions Architect applicants must demonstrate 5+ years of experience in solutions engineering focusing on some combination of DevOps/DevSecOps, SDLC, Agile, SAFe, Cloud and Mobile technologies and processes; enterprise SDLCs and advanced service delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of systems development methodologies, techniques, standards and best practices; as well as n experience with all phases of the software/systems development lifecycle, and supporting tools and frameworks (Agile, Scrum/Kanban/SAFe). Additionally, the candidate should possess experience developing architecture diagrams, road maps and system design for proposals
  • Experience developing specifications, business/application/data/interface architecture documents and design documents. Capable of developing level of efforts (staffing) associated with proposed solutions
  • Must have strong oral and written communications skills including the ability to take part in persuasive discourse with peers, capture, pricing, executive leadership, and vendors, including the ability to produce compelling documentation of solutions that are easily understood by non-technical reviewers
  • Proven experience building meaningful and productive relationships with senior managers, peers, and customers
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate skills commiserate with experience level (mid or senior):
  • Experience and knowledge related to large federal IT contracts (over $10M TCV), with emphasis on Healthcare IT. They will have an understanding of federal acquisitions vehicles and processes and a familiarity with cloud-based solutions and architectures
  • Strong (expert level with certification) background in at least one specialty area: software development, cyber security, enterprise architecture, cloud solutions, hardware (network equipment, IoT, telecoms, etc.), enterprise PMO
  • Knowledge of emergent/innovative solutions in any of the following areas: Robotic Process Automation, Workflow Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, DevOps tools automation, Test Automation, Image Analysis, Auto-scaling Cloud Computing Architectures, Block Chain, Low-code/No-code solutions, Mirrored World BI, etc.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Professional trainings/certifications (AWS/Microsoft/Cyber Security/Agile/DevOps) strongly desired
  • Technical/proposal writing and editing skills using Shipley (Color Teams) process
  • Experience with the US Department of Veterans Affairs (our primary customer)
  • Other preferred professional trainings/certifications include: PMP, Scrum Master, ITIL v3/4, Lean 6 Sigma
  • Knowledge on ISO, CMMI, ITIL, PMBoK, TOGAF, DODAF, FedRAMP and ATO standards and processes
  • Advanced MS Word skills, including use of templates, styles, tables, and layouts
  • Prior experience supporting Federal agencies such as CMS, DHA, DHS, VA, HHS, and NIH
