Habitat for Humanity of Omaha is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Construction Accountant to join our accounting team. The Construction Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient management of financial resources through accurate cost analysis and reporting. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to our mission of providing affordable housing solutions to those in need. This position reports to the Controller.

Requirements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, mentor and develop the Procurement Team
  • Evaluate all existing procurement processes for efficiency and internal controls, working collectively with Construction and Accounting teams to streamline workflows
  • Develop, maintain and reconcile annual and project-based budgets, forecasts and KPIs for the Construction Department
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to review financial performance and provide insight and recommendations for improvement
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial accounting reports
  • Conduct thorough analysis of project costs, including materials, labor, and overhead expenses, to ensure accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with on-site teams to oversee inventory tracking, implementing best practices to optimize inventory levels and minimize waste.
  • Create ad-hoc financial reporting, as requested by various team members
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, grant regulations, and organizational policies in all accounting activities.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across departments, including project management, procurement, and finance, to achieve Organizational goals and objectives.
  • Additional duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Construction environment
  • 3-5 years direct management experience
  • Strong leadership skills and proven experience working in a collaborate team environment
  • Public accounting experience is a plus
  • Experience working in NetSuite
  • Experience working in BuilderTrend, Procore or similar construction management software
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
