BridgePhase is seeking a Principal Network Security Engineer to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for managing the full lifecycle of Authority to Operate (ATO) packages. This hands-on role involves defining system boundaries, setting up and securing networks, and leveraging cloud infrastructure and automation tools. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams to deliver mission-critical solutions. This is an on-site position - work will be performed at Hill Air Force Base.  All candidates must be local to the Salt Lake City metropolitan area to support the onsite requirements.

In this position, you can expect to:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive ATO packages, ensuring compliance with mission and security requirements.
  • Define and document system boundaries, requiring an in-depth understanding of system architecture and functionality.
  • Architect, configure, and secure network infrastructures, including cloud-based environments (AWS and/or Azure).
  • Implement infrastructure automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Collaborate with project development teams to understand requirements, provide technical guidance, and align efforts with security and operational goals.
  • Act as a liaison between project teams, cybersecurity personnel, cloud hosting environments, and other stakeholders to ensure all configurations and requirements are met.
  • Report regularly on project progress, challenges, and mitigation strategies to leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Identify network vulnerabilities and implement effective mitigation measures.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD standards, including DoD 8140 and DAFMAN 17-1305,

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience as an Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) or equivalent role.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience managing the full lifecycle of ATO packages for government systems.
  • Proven expertise in network architecture, configuration, and security in cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure).
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Strong understanding of system boundaries, cross-domain solutions (CDS), and security mitigations.
  • Must possess at least one of the following certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISSO, FITSP-M, GCIA, GCSA, GCIH, GSLC, GICSP.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Collateral Secret Security Clearance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong organizational skills to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines efficiently.
