Job Title: Final Inspection Team Leader Department: Finish

Reports To: Crew Supervisor Location: Dallas Lab

Work Hours: 12 Hour Shifts (Schedules and shift assignments may be subject to change based on business needs)

Crew 2 = 12:00PM to 6:00PM (Wednesday)

6:00AM to 6:00PM (Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

SUMMARY

Utilizing skills to assist the supervisor to plan, direct, coordinate, and control activities of employees engaged in assisting customers by performing the following duties.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist supervisor to mentor, lead, coach, and develop employees to achieve safety, cost, quality, and delivery goals for assigned designated functional area.
  • Ensuring that employee's prioritize work based on start dates and follows all S.O. P's.
  • Assisting in the production process in all department areas.
  • Ensure that all good safety practices are being followed all the time.

  • Assisting in the coverage in other areas when needed

Employee Leadership, Development, and Administration:
  • Assist in the supervision of employees assigned to special account.
  • Oversees accomplishment of assigned work through all team members in your area assigned to special account.
  • Monitor applicable laws in relation to employee issues, environmental, Health and Safety and business practices.
  • Provide guidance to team members by continuously assessing individual and team performance and giving feedback.
  • Promote positive department morale.
  • Enforce schedules and estimate worker hour requirements.
  • Assist in developing a process plan including people, resources, equipment, and floor space.
Delivery:
  • Maintain department schedule by coordinating employees to meet customer demands.
  • Assist the supervisor by presenting daily assignment to employees to ensure on-time product delivery.
  • Monitor indicators for gaps to target.
  • Analyze gaps for root cause.
  • Develop countermeasures.
Quality:
  • Train employees to create understanding of assurance of quality standards and processes.
  • Monitor department systems to assure outgoing product meets quality standards.
  • Increase major and key product characteristics / parameters to meet division objectives to reduce variation around target.
Problem Solving
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
Knowledge and Understanding of the Following Areas:
  • Lens materials, production processes, quality control, billing, credits, and other techniques used to maximize the distribution and satisfaction of goods to the customer.
  • Machines capabilities, including their advantages and limits.
  • Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
  • Monitoring performance of self and others to make improvements or take corrective actions.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Physical Demands of Working Environment

Environmental:
  • Production environment with occasional office interaction.
Physical:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team leader may be required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arm, talk and hear. The Team leader is frequently required to use his/her hands to manipulate, handle or feel. The Team Leader must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Vision:
  • Must be able to see in the normal vision range with or without correction; Vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents, job tickets, faxes, cosmetic defects, procedural and policy documents.
QUALIFICATIONS

Experience
  • 2 - 5 years of mounting, final inspection and shipping / receiving of inventory
  • Knowledge/skill in all areas of the department
  • Working knowledge of mounting lenses in all frame's types.
  • Experience in Final Inspection of lenses to assist mounter in determining usable lenses or decision to break the lenses.
  • Experience in all processes of shipping and receiving of finished product and incoming lenses and frames into the inventory.
  • The ability to assist mounters, final inspectors and shipping /receiving employees in their positions as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • The ability to communication openly with others and work as a team.
  • Must be able to work overtime or flexible shifts when needed.
  • Must be able to follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to understand and implement work instructions.
  • Must be able to understand basic job work tickets.
  • The ability to do simple/basic math
  • Work without supervision
  • Mechanical ability to repair equipment
  • Good communication skill
Education Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
Safety Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Leader is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment may require P.P.E.
  • Safety glasses and long sleeve shirts may be required where needed.
  • Responsible for preventing incidents to employees and property.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely manner and provide support for continuous improvement to include
  • training of direct reports.
