Manufacturing Operations Supervisor Activities are generally defined as leading by example to enhance performance of individuals and processes through continuous improvement; to interpret and apply organizational policies; and to facilitate communication on the shop floor.
Here is a glimpse of what you'll do:
- Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.
- Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
- Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions, and responding to requests.
- Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing change.
- To work closely with other Shift Supervisors to ensure production handovers are effective
- To ensure that the training skills are met for current and future demands of the shift
- To have an active role in the companies' continuous improvement plan to achieve plans for future growth within the company
- Accurately maintain Employee performance, payroll & attendance records
- Anticipate problems and develop solutions before they arise
- Ensure area of control meets safety goals and complies with OSHA regulations
- Implement safety procedures and assure compliance to create and maintain a safe work environment; become an active member of the Safety Committee.
- Maintain assigned area in a high degree of cleanliness and assure compliance with established housekeeping standards.
- Facilitate the team process to achieve daily production objectives; and meet quality goals including IATF requirements.
- Evaluate team member performance to assure expectations are met or exceeded in all areas of responsibility and accountability.
- Manage conflict resolution between and among team members as well as across teams to maintain harmony to the highest extent possible.
- Facilitate communication among team members, between teams, and across shifts and departments; assure organization communication is shared with all team members.
- Transition new team members into the team quickly and efficiently upon assignment or transfer; and
- Demonstrate leadership that is consistent with PPT vision, mission, and values.
- Must be flexible to work an alternate shift pattern.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in supervision or management. Preferably in a manufacturing team-based environment.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the technical aspects of manufacturing processes.
- Interpersonal skills to the extent in which the candidate can resolve conflict, develop people, facilitate corrective action, and foster an environment that supports the values of PPT.
- Demonstrated analytical skills; knowledge of statistical process control and structured problem- solving methods.
- Talking and working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and terminology.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills including oral, written, and listening; and
- Working knowledge of PC use especially including MS office software (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access).
