Dispatch - Shuttle

Dispatch busses and vans that transport the public and employees for the Terminal and Public Parking Shuttle Service Program at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. Overall responsibilities include the monitoring of; vehicle location, headway maintenance in accordance with contractual obligation, and emergency resource allocation as indicated and provide the first line of quality customer service to phone inquiries and complaints.
This position requires flexibility in scheduling as candidates must be able to work holidays, weekends, and nights. Starting wage of $11.25 per hour.
Key tasks and responsibilities
• Monitor vehicle location, route adherence and headway maintenance within the guidelines of contractual obligations.
• Monitor and respond to all radio traffic for deployed shuttle fleet.
• Record all incoming location radio traffic for deployed shuttle fleet.
• Perform daily shift checks of Clever Device equipment for deployed units.
• Perform daily shift checks of Angle Trax equipment for deployed units.
• Complete daily shift reports.
• Provide off going report to incoming relief dispatchers.
• Contact emergency services as requested by any driver involved in any event, the on duty supervisor, quality assurance supervisor or the director of transportation.
• Document complaints, driver incidents, action response to all incidents outside of daily routine.
• Respond to incoming phone inquiries with the idealism that you are the first line of quality customer service.
• Record and report to management all attendance issues (call off, tardy, etc.) that occur on your shift.
• Perform other duties as directed.
• Adhere to established company policies, procedures and guidelines.
Job Requirements:
- Read, write and speak English fluently
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience
- Capable of operating multiline telephone equipment and dispatch computer equipment.
Candidates should:
• Have the ability to work in a structured, fast-paced environment, with defined deadlines.
• Be self-motivated and require little supervision
• Be able to interact well with the public
• Possess strong organizational skills with attention to details
• Strong written/spoken skills when reporting to management
• Be familiar with basic computer functions and willing to be trained in the use of transportation software
• Have a willingness to train others in the performance of job function
